Scripture Challenges Week 2 & 3

This week I worked on the scripture challenges for week 2 & 3.  Week 2's challenge words was kindness.  I love this quote from Abraham Lincoln that Patter mentions in her devotion..."the only way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend."  How absolutely true!  There were so many verses I read during my study of *kindness*.  Although I can't fit them all on my card, I have been writing the verses down and keeping them in a binder for quick reference.  Here is my card and verse:

Colossians 3:12 "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothes yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."

Now, on to week 3...for week 3, our challenge word was beauty.  In her devotion, Patter spoke about the beauty of God's creation and about the beauty of our hearts.   Sometimes we spend so much time on our outward appearance (that which important to today's society) that we forget to spend time beautifying our inner self.  God doesn't look at our outward appearance...he looks to our hearts.  I pray and ask God everyday to continue to cleanse me and beautify my heart.  It's a process, but I know through prayer and studying  his word, his work will be done in me.  Here's is my card:

1 Peter 3: 3-4  "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.  Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

1 Samuel 16:7 "The Lord does not look at things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

God Bless You!

Scripture Challenges

So I finally did my scripture cards from the 2008 Scripture Challenge at Faith Sisters.  Now that I've done all the cards for the words I had studied for the 2008 Challenges, I can now go back to the beginning with the 2009 Scripture Challenges.   Woohoo!!  Here are three of my cards:

HUMBLE

Phillipians 2:3 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain concet, but in humility consider other better than yourselves."

Colossians 3:12 "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and derly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindess, humility, gentleness and patience."

SERVE

1 Samuel 12:24 "But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart, consider what great things He has done for You."

1 Peter 4:10 "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's Grace in it's various forms."

ENCOURAGE

Hebrews 3:13 "But encourage one another daily as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness."

And today was a very good mail day!!!  I received the following goodies from Memory Works:

A little bit of this and that...

Just wanted to share a few scrappy and "non" scrappy things with you today.  I'll start with a couple of layouts!!  Yeah!!

I'm currently hosting a *music* challenge over at Scrap4Life.  The challenge is to use the title or lyrics from a Christmas song on your layout.  I used the lyrics from "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" for this layout of Bianca.  These pictures were taken last year.  As you can tell from her face, she did not want to have her pictures taken.  But  I love how the pictures turned out!  These are my favorite types of photos.  The ones where you capture the "real" everyday moments instead of the posed ones!

Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Basic Grey Patterned Paper, Tags & Letter Stickers (Fruitcake Collection), Basic Grey Chipboard Monograms, American Craft Brads, Fancy Pants Ribbon (Clair de Lune), Stampin' Up Ink (Chocolate Chip), Colorbox Ink (Brown), Zig Writer (Chocolate)

And this next layout is of me and my oldest son, Daniel.  The photo was taken over 8 years ago!  He was only 3!!  Time sure does fly!!

Supplies Used:  Bazzill Cardstock, SEI Patterned Paper (Paisley & Petals Collection), American Craft Thickers (Jewelry Box), Zig Writer (Chocolate), Stampin' Up Ink (Chocolate Chip)

Last night, the kids decorated a Gingerbread House!  Well, the older ones that is!  However, when the twins woke up this morning, they enjoyed eating the candy off the Gingerbread House.  As you can see from the photo, some of our candy is already missing (notice the door)!  haha!  Those babies crack me up!!

It's been a while since I posted one of my scripture cards so I would like to share with you one that I did a few weeks ago.  The word that week was "OBEY".

John 14:21 "Whoever has my commands and does them, he is the one who loves me.  He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."

Well, off to watch a Christmas movie!!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!!  God Bless!

Crazy Week

It's been a while since I updated here!  Last week so just so busy around here!!

Bianca made "Student of the Month"!!  We are so proud of her!!  She is doing extremely well in school!  They had a little awards ceremony for them.  She was excited with her award but not too excited about walking on stage in front of everyone.  hehe!

In addition, we celebrated Daniel's 11th birthday!  The boys had a blast!  And that cake, lasted like 2 seconds!  Nothing like a Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Cake from Cold Stone Creamery.

Bianca also had "Dress Up as a Princess" day at her dance class.  She was extremely excited about this.  She got to wear the "Sleeping Beauty" dress her Tio & Titi got her at Disney.  But for some reason I can't get those pictures uploaded here.  Frustrating!

In addition, the November kit was released at Scrap4life.com.  It is a gorgeous kit!  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play with it much.  However, I did manage to create one layout with it.

These are some of the pictures we took of Jeremy at the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago.  He had a blast moving all those pumpkins around.

Hopefully, I'll find some time this week to create some more stuff with this kit!!  It's really a lot of fun!!

I also did one of the Scripture Challenges over at Faith Sisters.  The word that week was "fear".  As soon as I saw what that the word "fear", I knew exactly what verse I wanted to use...Jeremiah 29:11.  This is a verse I came across when I was pregnant with the twins and holds a special place in my heart.  It came to me at a time that I needed to hear it most!  Here's my card:

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Enjoy the rest of your week and may it be filled with God's wonderful blessings.

Scripture Challenges to share!

Just wanted to share these two "scripture cards" that I made a couple of weeks ago for the Faith Sister's Scripture Challenges.  These challenges have been so wonderful!  It is a great way to study God's Word.  I am even keeping a notebook of other verses I have found related to the different subjects.  Unfortunately, I can't fit all the verses on my card.  So I have been using the verse from the bible that spoke to me the most!

When I saw the word "treasure", I was a bit confused at first.  As I read Patter's devotion on "treasure", God was immediately speaking to me!  I knew I  had to do some re-prioritizing in my life!  With our busy lives, we tend to put God at the end of our "to-do" list.  I know I am guilty of this.  I am working everyday to put God first in all I do.  And when I forget, I now have my little card I can pull out to remind me!  I chose the following two verses for my card this week:

Corinthians 4:7 "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."

Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be."

I loved this week's scripture challenge on God's "leading"!  These past few weeks I have felt God speaking to me in so many different forms.  Following his lead is not always easy, matter of fact, it can be very hard at times.  For years, I have always done things my way and well, that got me nowhere!  I ask God every day to lead me in the right path and when I start to detour from that path, to give me the strength to get right back on it!  I chose the following verses for this week's card:

Psalm 25:5 "Guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

I am also very excited!  Faith Sisters is having a nine week challenge...the challenge: "The True Meaning of Christmas"  I can't wait to get started!  I think I'm going to do a mini album that will be easy to share with the kids!  And they are offering a free digital kit to get started!  Although, I don't digi scrap, I downloaded it anyways!  It's gorgeous!  Go check them out!
