2 Sketches 4 U...

Wow! It's been a while since I participated over at 2 Sketches 4 You! And since I had some of scraps left over from my Memory Works "August Kit", I decided to give this week's sketch a shot!! It's an awesome sketch by Laura! Here's the sketch and my card:

I decided to do a couple more cards with my scraps! It was fun!! I'm short on "boy" birthday cards and thought these papers would be perfect!

On a separate note, I took these silly pictures of Jeremy yesterday. This little thing cracks me up! He was pulling the sheets off my bed and got himself all tangled up! It was so funny! He is such a goofball sometimes!!

Another Cyber Crop!

But this time it's over at Simply Obsessed!!!  It's this weekend!!!  I plan on joining in on the fun and getting lots of scrappin' done!!!  Come join in on the fun!!!

A few "scrappy" things to share!

Finally, this week I have been in full "scrap" mode!! That first layout gave me the "kick" I needed!! Here a few more layouts I did this week that I would like to share.

I don't know what it is about my girls...they are so "high maintenance"! LOL! My boys...total opposite...very low key! I feel sorry for my husband when these two get older!!

For this first layout I used the August Kit from Memory Works! Unfortunately, this kit is already sold out! I just loved using these papers from Prima.

Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock (white), Prima Patterned Paper (Dude Collection), American Craft Thickers, Prima shape-o-rama overlay, Prima Sticky Notes, Prima Flowers, Buttons Galore Buttons, Fancy Pants Stick Pins, Zig Writer (black), Colorbox Ink (black)

For this second layout, I used Simply Obsessed's Birthday Kit featuring Rose Moka. I absolutely loved the bright colors of these papers. So fun!

Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock (black), Rose Moka Patterned Paper, American Craft Thickers, Rose Moka Letter Stickers (green), Making Memories Glitter Alpha (i), Queen & Co. Felt Flowers, Prima Flowers, Queen & Co Brads, Making Memories Brads, Doodlebug Buttons, Buttons Galore Buttons, Colorbox Ink (black), Zig Writer (black)

In addition to these layouts, I also created the first scripture card for 2009. Our first word was "faith". As I studied the word faith, there were so many verses I had found. I wanted to include them all on my card. However, I chose two that spoke to me the most. These verses reminded me of our recent Bible Study classes on "faith". The title of our study was "Increasing our Faith". (Luke 17:5) Hebrews 11:1-6 (with an emphasis on Hebrews 11:1) were the main verses of our study and we would read them during each class. Because I want to keep these verses close to me for reference, I decided to use them on my card.

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."
Luke 17:5 "...Increase our faith!"

And don't forget, Scrap4Life's weekend cyber crop starts tonight at midnight!!! Hope to see you there!! I hope to get lots of scrappin' done this weekend!!!

God Bless!

My Prayers for You Challenge

Faith Sisters is hosting a "My Prayers for You" Challenge!  I just love this idea and decided to play along as well!  I will be creating an 8X8 album and focusing my cards on my 4 children.  In today's world, it is so important to constantly keep our children in our prayers.   Here's the  first page for my book:

Week 1 Scripture:  Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your young children.”~Lamentations 2:19

My Prayer:  Holy Spirit, please bring to my remembrance the desire to pray scripture over my children’s lives. Help me to hide these scriptures in my heart and the hearts of my children. In Jesus name. Amen.

I am looking forward to our next challenge and my finished book!

On a different note, I did some blog hopping this morning!  I love looking at all the cards from Kazan's sketch blog, 2 Sketches 4 You!  Well, this led me to Christine's blog "Creative Journey" and she's celebrating 50,00o posts to her blog!  To celebrate, she's giving away a cute RAK, stop by and leave a comment for a chance to win her goodies!!!   Congratulations, Kristine!!!

This weekend I had the pleasure of reading the book "Fireproof"!  It was EXCELLENT!!  I could not put it down and read it in just 2 days!  Our church will be showing the moving in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to go see it!  I cried during the book, I can't even imagine when I see the movie!  I'm going to be a puddle of tears!  LOL!

Now, I'll be joining in with other members of Scrap4Life for the very first S4L Book Club hosted by Laura Parks!  Our first book is "The Perfect Family" by Pam Lewis.  I will be stopping by the bookstore tomorrow to pick up the book!  All are invited to join us!!  Here is a copy of the announcement:

Scripture Challenges

So I finally did my scripture cards from the 2008 Scripture Challenge at Faith Sisters.  Now that I've done all the cards for the words I had studied for the 2008 Challenges, I can now go back to the beginning with the 2009 Scripture Challenges.   Woohoo!!  Here are three of my cards:

HUMBLE

Phillipians 2:3 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain concet, but in humility consider other better than yourselves."

Colossians 3:12 "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and derly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindess, humility, gentleness and patience."

SERVE

1 Samuel 12:24 "But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart, consider what great things He has done for You."

1 Peter 4:10 "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's Grace in it's various forms."

ENCOURAGE

Hebrews 3:13 "But encourage one another daily as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness."

And today was a very good mail day!!!  I received the following goodies from Memory Works:

The December Kit featuring My Mind's Eye "Merry and Bright" Collection

And the Fancy Pants "Splendid" Collection

Aren't these papers GORGEOUS??!!!  I am still a Memory Works consultant so if you interested in getting these, click on the image, it will take you to the Memory Works website for details and then email me with your request.  Thanks!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!  God Bless!

His Holy Name Challenge

I am very excited about Patter's new challenge over at Faith Sisters.  This year, she is hosting a  "His Holy Name" challenge!  These challenges will give us the opportunity to learn about our precious Lord by focusing on the Names of God.  Every other week, Patter will post a name of our precious Lord for us to study.  You can do a layout, card, ATC, etc. etc.  I have decided to do a mini album.

The challenges started on January 4th.  Our first challenge word is:  HOLY.  I really enjoyed Patter's first devotion.  As most of us already know, God is HOLY!  And because he is HOLY, he must punish sin!  Her devotion goes on to say, that as believers, we are called to be HOLY!  This means, we are suppose to become more Christ-like through the grace of the Holy Spirit.  You can read Patter's devotion on HOLY here!  And here is my page and the verse I chose:

1 Peter 1:15-16 "But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is writter 'Be holy, because I am holy'"

I am also going to continue with her Scripture Challenges since I started so late in the year.  She will be re-posting them with the "His Holy Name" Challenges.  So excited about this, too!  I can do the ones I had missed!!!

I encourage you to give these challenges a try!  Not only will you create beautiful work, but in the process you will learn more about our precious Lord and His Word!

Enjoy the rest of your week!!!  God Bless!

As promised...

Here are some pictures from our trip back home to Chicago!!  Upon arrival, we were greeted to BELOW ZERO weather and SNOW STORM!  How's that for a Welcome Home?!  My dad hurt his arm so guess who had the pleasure of cleaning up after the snow storm?!  hahahahaha!!

But it was all worth it to be able to spend Christmas with my family!  Here are some pictures we took on Christmas day!

All my nieces and nephews!  This was not an easy picture to get!  lol!

My dad and my nephew, Alex

Daniel

Kati

In addition, we celebrated the twins 2nd birthday while we were back home!  Here are some pics from that day!

Jeremy was more interested in the candy bags sitting on the table than anything else!  haha!  That's my Jeremy!

And here they are in their party hats!

And then we all got pretty dazzled up for a big New Year's Eve party!

And then it was time to say our "good-byes"!  There were no tears until Daniel had to say bye to his grandpa!  These two adore each other!  It always breaks my heart!

Oh yeah, and this guy...a year later...he still doesn't like me too much with my big ol' camera!  I think I traumatized the poor kid!  Oopsie!

Of course, I have tons more pictures, over 200 to be exact (LOL!), but this was the jist of it!  Can't wait to go back next Christmas!!
